Find a Clear Aligner Dentist Near You

Find an Active Aligners dentist near you

Active Aligners is a clear aligner system you can only get through a dentist. We do not sell aligners direct to patients and we never post them to your home. Every case is planned, fitted and reviewed by a registered dentist who has been accredited to treat with Active Aligners, so someone qualified looks at your teeth and gums before anything moves, and keeps looking at them until your treatment is finished. More than 2,000 Active Aligners cases have now been completed in the UK.

Use the map below to find an accredited practice. Enter your postcode or town, choose how far you are willing to travel, and the search lists the practices nearest to you with their contact details. More than 130 accredited practices are listed across the UK and the network is still growing.

Why it matters that your own dentist does this

Straightening teeth is dentistry, not a product you order. A dentist can see what a photograph cannot: an untreated cavity, gum disease, a tooth that is not firm enough to be moved yet, or a bite that needs attention first. Starting aligner treatment on top of an existing problem can make that problem worse, and it is the reason we supply dentists rather than patients.

Because the practice is local to you, your dentist can also see you quickly if something needs attention partway through, check that your teeth are tracking the plan, and fit your retainers properly at the end. If your teeth have not finished moving by the last aligner in the series, your dentist can ask us for a free refinement. We remake the remaining stages at no charge, however many it takes. Ask your dentist what their own fee covers if a refinement is needed, because their appointment time is theirs to price, not ours.

What happens at your first appointment

      • Assessment. Your dentist checks whether clear aligners are the right treatment for your teeth, and tells you if anything needs doing first.
      • Scan or impression. A 3D scan or a set of impressions records the exact shape of your teeth. Nothing is estimated from a photograph.
      • Your plan. We build a digital treatment plan from that record. Your dentist reviews it, asks for changes where they are needed, and approves it. You see a 3D preview of the expected result before you commit to anything.
      • Your aligners. Once your dentist has approved the plan, your custom set of aligners is made and sent to the practice, and your dentist fits the first one and talks you through the rest.

      What treatment is actually like

You wear each aligner for about 22 hours a day and take it out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to clean your teeth. Most patients move to the next aligner in the series roughly every two weeks, as directed by their dentist. The average Active Aligners treatment takes 6 to 7 months, although cases vary and treatment can run anywhere from 2 to 12 months depending on how far your teeth have to travel.

The aligners are clear, smooth and virtually undetectable when worn. Some patients notice mild pressure for a day or two at the start of each new stage, which is the aligner doing its job rather than anything going wrong. At the end of treatment you wear retainers to hold the result, and your dentist will go through the options with you. Active Aligners treatment is for patients aged 16 and over, and your dentist will advise on younger patients case by case.

      What it costs

The fee is set by the practice treating you, not by Active Aligners, because it covers your dentist’s assessment, time and appointments as well as the aligners themselves. Ask the practice you choose for a written quote at your first visit, and ask what is included if you need a refinement or a replacement aligner.

If your dentist is not on the map

Ask them. If your own dentist is not yet an Active Aligners provider we would be glad to work with them. Accreditation is free, there are no sign-up fees and no minimum case numbers, and the whole workflow is digital, so it is straightforward for almost any UK practice to start. Send them to our free accreditation page or ask them to contact us and we will take it from there. Staying with the dentist who already knows your mouth is usually the better outcome.

      Questions patients ask most

We answer the most common patient questions on our clear aligner FAQs page, covering wear time, eating, cleaning, lost aligners and retainers. You can also read patient stories with before and after results, or see how clear aligners are made.

If you cannot find what you need, email info@activealigners.co.uk or call +44 20 7307 5959. We cannot give you clinical advice about your own teeth, because that has to come from a dentist who can examine them, but we can tell you where your nearest provider is.
